When you open a gif image in Windows 7, the image will be opened in Internet Explorer browser by default. This is perhaps not a significant issue, but some people might not like it very much. Instead of opening gif images in the browser, why not using the Windows Photo Viewer? By using Windows Photo Viewer, we can open and navigate gif images much easier.
How to open gif images with Windows Photo Viewer
To change the handlers of the gif images, you just need to do a few simple steps.
- Open the folder that contains any gif image and right-click on the image.
- Choose Properties from the right-click menu and click it.
- Find “Opens with:”. Notice that the default program to open gif images is still Internet Explorer. To change it, click the “Change” button.
- In the opened window, find Windows Photo Viewer from the list and double-click on it. You will be returned to the “Properties” window. Click OK button for the change to take effect.
From now on, whenever you open a gif image, it will open in Windows Photo Viewer.
